The Foundation’s survivorship program helps the patient deal with the stress and emotions after they’ve finished treatment. During their last week of treatment, every Bismarck Cancer Center patient meets with a survivorship nurse who provides an comprehensive follow-up and survivorship care map individualized for each patient. The plan includes a written treatment summary, a recommended follow-up schedule, a list of short and long term side effects of the disease and treatments, a description of what to look for regarding reoccurrence, a chronological list of events in their cancer journey, and a list of various support systems within their community. |
