Horses for Healing

Equine therapy has proven helpful for cancer patients because horses are naturally social animals that welcome a special bond with individuals. Once that connection is formed, it can provide great comfort to the cancer survivor, giving them a much-needed escape after the trauma of fighting cancer.

The Bismarck Cancer Center's new equine therapy program will be held at the TR4 Heart and Soul Riding Arena the 4th Thursday of each month. The equine therapy classes will be free to survivors and a guest. Register online or for more information, call 701-222-6100. Space is limited.

(*Participants must be at least 4 years old of age and under 210 lbs. Helmets are provided and required.)

Hunting Dakota 2019

Established in 2008, Hunting Dakota with Roosevelt (HDwR) is an organization designed to meet three very specific goals. HDwR provides financial and holistic support to the Bismarck Cancer Center Foundation, a non-profit 501- C-3 charity, to further the fight against cancer at the local level. HDwR also honors members of the United States Armed Forces who sacrifice themselves daily to protect and preserve the way of life that we all cherish. We especially honor those who have given the ultimate sacrifice for their country. In addition, we strive to follow the North American Model of Wildlife Conservation by conducting a “fair chase” hunt, recognizing and honoring hunter/landowner relationships and paying tribute to the conservation ideas and principles founded by former president Theodore Roosevelt.

For three days in October, men and women come together to revere, honor and attend to these issues in the tradition of Roosevelt.Select military personnel from North Dakota who have been mobilized for at least one tour of duty are invited to be guests of the sponsoring individuals or companies. In small groups, they hunt (fair chase) upland game on private lands as guests of generous land-owner ranchers and farmers of North Dakota with trained dogs and their handlers.
